There was plenty of competitive spirit, teamwork and laughter as almost 100 members of the PKF Brenson Lawlor team came together for our annual Sports Day at Old Belvedere Rugby Club in Ballsbridge.
The day got off to a great start with breakfast in the office, where everyone fuelled up on pastries, granola cups, tea, coffee and juice before making the walk to the rugby club.
Once there, 10 teams of 10 took on a series of sporting challenges, with everyone getting involved regardless of their sporting ability. The programme included a three-legged race, sack race, egg and spoon race, frisbee throw, golf putting, water relay, and tug-of-war, among other events.
The conditions were certainly challenging, with a particularly windy day making some of the events even more entertaining! However, the weather didn't stop everyone from getting stuck in, with plenty of determination, encouragement and friendly competition between the teams.
The competitive spirit was taken up another level with a series of departmental tug-of-war challenges.
There was a showdown between Partners and staff, Audit went head-to-head with Tax, and Corporate Finance took on everyone!
While the bragging rights from these match-ups will no doubt be debated for some time, the main Sports Day competition ultimately came down to the overall team scores.
Medals were awarded to the top three teams, with the winning team taking home the Sports Day trophy. Along with the trophy came the most valuable prize of all – year-long bragging rights!
After a busy day of running, throwing, racing and pulling, everyone had certainly earned a chance to relax.
The day finished with a delicious BBQ lunch at Old Belvedere Rugby Club, along with some well-deserved cold pints and a chance for everyone to catch up and enjoy the afternoon together.
Our Sports Day was a great opportunity to step away from the office, bring colleagues from across the firm together and enjoy some friendly competition. A big thank you goes to everyone who took part and helped make the day such a memorable one.
We are already looking forward to seeing who takes home the trophy next year!
